  • Drinkers who consume alcohol with energy drinks are about twice as likely as drinkers who do not report mixing alcohol with energy drinks to report being taken advantage of sexually, to report taking advantage of someone else sexually, and to report riding with a driver who was under the influence of alcohol.
  • A recent government conducted medical study indicates that people with a variant of the DRD2 gene (a gene associated with dopamine function in the brain) may be more prone to receive pleasure from drinking; since this gen merely relates to the pleasure associated with drinking, this research cannot conclude that DRD2 causes alcohol dependence.
